QUALICER CONGRESS 2012 – ZOOM QUALICER: DIGITAL PRINTING

Compartir
The World Forum on Ceramic Tile, QUALICER 2012, is currently defining its contents with the new “Zoom Qualicer” on digital printing. From now on, each Congress will showcase one subject from among those of greatest interest to the ceramic industry.
For next February congress two sessions are planned to address in depth all aspects of digital printing, with contributions by leading players and experts in the field.

STRATEGY PANEL DEBATE
Chaired by José Cabedo, General Manager of ENDEKA CERAMICS
The subjects to be dealt with include:
• Digital printing: past, present, and future
• Are the advantages of the method economic, logistic, or both?
• Why did digital emerge in Spain?
• How is inkjet spreading in the world?
• Has the crisis reduced the pace of inkjet installation?
• What has inkjet contributed to business and what lies behind its almost exponential growth in recent years?
• Will inkjet be the major decoration technique?
• Is inkjet for producing more cheaply or for selling at higher prices?
Members:
• Pedro Hausdorff .General Manager of Ferro Spain and responsible for the Ink jet Division.
• Antonio Blasco. General Manager of Esmalglass, S.A. and Itaca S.A.
• Sr. José Cifre. Manager of Argenta Cerámica
• José Vicente Tomás. Manager of Kerajet
• Sergio Cepriá. Manager of Cretaprint

TECHNOLOGY PANEL DEBATE
Chaired by José Luis Amorós, Director of ITC (Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica)
The subjects to be dealt with include:
• Is high definition sought by inkjet? Or rather versatility, speed, or a thin layer?
• Drop size; future and technology
• Only inkjet decoration or also inkjet glazing?
• Should the ink concentration be raised? Higher solids concentration? Larger particle size? How will it affect ink stability?
• With coarser layers, lower definition: Will I be able to use coarser particles?
• Is the colloidal chemistry of the dispersions important for the improvement of the inks and their applications?
• Digital printing: past and present
• Will it be possible to use aqueous mediums instead of organic mediums?
• Milled pigments or colloidal size particles obtained by synthesis?
• In your views, what are the technical challenges of digital printing?
• The future of digital printing
Members:
• Rafael Porcar (Sales Manager and head of the technical services Ink jet Division. Ferro Spain

MACER, MOULDS MANUFACTURER, ARCHIEVES THE UNIQUE CALIBRE TILE

Compartir
Currently the achievement of a unique calibre in ceramic tiles production is very important and very difficult to get. The usual tests to get this unique calibre are very tedious and imprecise . The technology developed in MACER automates these tests giving us a great reliability and precision, so it allows us that all tiles will have same calibre.
This system allows us that all tiles will have same apparent density, and it means that they will have same calibre, independent of the changes in the powder humidity or in the differences generated during the mould charging.
The Unique Calibre System is the action between an infra-red lent for humidity detection after pressing and mould with mobiles blocks for automatic regulation of the charge, getting a UNIQUE CALIBRE.
This new system allows the decrease of production problems, increase of the quality for final product, cost reduction, process improvement, and the reduction of storage space for final product.

QUALICER 2012: MORE THAN 130 ABSTRACTS RECEIVED FOR THE CONGRESS PROGRAMME

Compartir
The end of May was the deadline for those wishing to participate as speakers at QUALICER 2012 to submit the ‘outline’ of their oral presentation to the Technical Secretariat of the Congress. To date, more than 130 abstracts of oral and poster presentations have been received for the QUALICER 2012 programme.
This is excellent news, because ‘the pace at which the abstracts have come in resembles that of previous events. It is a very good number, there will certainly be over 140 presentations’, according to Enrique Forcada, member of the QUALICER Organising Committee.
At the last QUALICER meeting, held in February 2010, a total of 141 studies were submitted.
The communications to be presented at QUALICER may be in the form of a paper or a poster. The International Technical Committee studying the abstracts (with a maximum length of 500 words) will now start a period of evaluation, in order to notify authors of their acceptance.
The deadline for submission of the complete and definitive papers and posters is 25 September 2011, in order to enable the Technical Committee to make the final selection in the month of October, for their inclusion in the QUALICER 2012 programme.
For the 2012 event, entitled ‘Green is growing’, QUALICER will be focusing its technical programme on subjects relating to sustainability and the environment and will devote a monographic session to digital printing and the latest innovations in this field.
