QUALICER CONGRESS 2012 – ZOOM QUALICER: DIGITAL PRINTING

The World Forum on Ceramic Tile, QUALICER 2012, is currently defining its contents with the new “Zoom Qualicer” on digital printing. From now on, each Congress will showcase one subject from among those of greatest interest to the ceramic industry.
For next February congress two sessions are planned to address in depth all aspects of digital printing, with contributions by leading players and experts in the field.

STRATEGY PANEL DEBATE
Chaired by José Cabedo, General Manager of ENDEKA CERAMICS
The subjects to be dealt with include:
• Digital printing: past, present, and future
• Are the advantages of the method economic, logistic, or both?
• Why did digital emerge in Spain?
• How is inkjet spreading in the world?
• Has the crisis reduced the pace of inkjet installation?
• What has inkjet contributed to business and what lies behind its almost exponential growth in recent years?
• Will inkjet be the major decoration technique?
• Is inkjet for producing more cheaply or for selling at higher prices?

Chaired by José Luis Amorós, Director of ITC (Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica)
The subjects to be dealt with include:
• Is high definition sought by inkjet? Or rather versatility, speed, or a thin layer?
• Drop size; future and technology
• Only inkjet decoration or also inkjet glazing?
• Should the ink concentration be raised? Higher solids concentration? Larger particle size? How will it affect ink stability?
• With coarser layers, lower definition: Will I be able to use coarser particles?
• Is the colloidal chemistry of the dispersions important for the improvement of the inks and their applications?
• Digital printing: past and present
• Will it be possible to use aqueous mediums instead of organic mediums?
• Milled pigments or colloidal size particles obtained by synthesis?
• In your views, what are the technical challenges of digital printing?
• The future of digital printing
